Ingredients

  • 900 g Multi Purpose potato
  • 400 g sauerkraut, drained
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 2 jonagold apples, peeled
  • 150 g bacon strips
  • 4 chicken sausages

Preparation method

Step 1

Put the potatoes in a pan with plenty of water. Put the pan on the heat and bring the water to a boil. Then boil the potatoes for 8 to 10 minutes until tender. Meanwhile, heat the drained sauerkraut in the microwave for 8 minutes at 700 watts. When the potatoes are done, you can drain them and let them steam dry. Mash the potatoes and then mix them with the warm sauerkraut and 2 tbsp butter. Leave the stew warm on low heat with a lid on the pan.

Step 2

Cut the apples into 8 segments each. In a large frying pan, fry the bacon until it starts to colour slightly, then add 1 tablespoon of butter and the apple segments. Fry the apple segments and bacon together until golden brown. Then remove the pan from the heat.

Step 3

Meanwhile, in a grill pan, cook the chicken sausages over medium heat according to instructions on the packet. When the sausages are cooked, the sauerkraut mash can be served.

Step 4

Serve the sauerkraut mash with the baked apple and bacon bits and grilled chicken sausages.
